The #SilentSundays hashtag reminds me of the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY. At the dining hall, there was Silent Wednesday, when guests were asked to dine in meditative silence. Of course, my inner brat immediately coupled with another brat at my table and we both began loudly whispering and giggling. A staff member came to our table and sternly announced “Silent Wednesday means silence! If you don’t like it, you can go eat on the porch!” We both burst out laughing. Shameful.
