Today I released my second #MIDI album (of a planned trilogy) and I would love for you to listen to it!
Like my previous album, it was made with the trial version of FL Studio, a cheap MIDI keyboard and a hearty helping of human ingenuity.
It's free! But you could also buy it on #bandcamp.

Do you like FM Synthesis? Me too! So I rearranged the whole album for #OPL3.

7 track album
It's time to program OPL3s and chew bubble gum, and Weeppiko is all out of gum.

The *original* original soundtrack for #Descent 2, on an (emulated in this case) #OPL3.
This is what you'll hear if you're playing the Descent 2 demo or if you turn the CD music off.
As you can see, it slaps.
Why Parallax decided not to complete this soundtrack and hire some metal bands to record the CD music tracks for this game instead, I cannot fathom. They clearly got it right the first time.

Are there any #instruments that, when mimicked by an #FM #synthesizer like the #OPL3, sound indistinguishable from the real thing?
I know #piano sounds very close, but are there any other instruments that FM is similarly good at?
@shieladixon @edbrindley Oh, wow. That's not bad for a "firsty".
And here we have yet another sound card which could be made to work with your #midi interface ... imagine how cool it must be to have the SID, AY and OPL3 perform together ...
Also, it's so cool to see #rc2014 and the #opl3 work together so well. #Z80 and #CPM80 ... made to last ...
Here's a little something for this #DOSember #MIDIMonday: the mellow, downtempo #OPL3 mix of the level 18 music from #Descent! Recorded over an analog line from my early-model Sound Blaster 16.
