🗣️ “The fall-out was long and painful. It certainly didn’t help us. There’s an extra weight with the fixture — if you don’t perform then baggage goes with you. That affects the emotion and feeling of the whole city.

🗣️”I’d much prefer to inspire the players than put fear into them. It’s a delicate balance. You want the players to think they have to play at their best level, and to think have to execute their best game, all those positive emotions we will be trying to flood into the players. I don’t want them to think they can’t lose.

🗣️”You know you are going into the game on a knife edge and that can bring out the best in your players. It could be a turning point in our season.”

🗣️ “I don’t know how to respond, I don’t even think I should. It’s a waste of my energy. Bruno is our captain and he’s injured. His only focus is coming back to fitness.

🗣️ “(The story) is not necessarily a problem for us, but it’s unwanted news. You don’t want your players distracted … I don’t know how much they’ll absorb that.

🗣️ “But for me it’s not the time. In the summer you can sort of understand those stories a little bit more because the transfer window is open, but to say our captain is in discussions with another club is totally disrespectful to Bruno more than anybody else. He’s totally committed here.”
