So while some will just buy a ticket, others want to be escorted from the hotel to the station to their seat to the exit and to the site, and all the same on the way back. The further integration of the train in the web of tourist circuits is key. It brings me back to the unused bus - train connection potential in #NuevoXcan to ferry passengers to #IslaHolbox.
...despite fierce opposition from a taxi mafia and a lack of interest from bus companies. #NuevoXcan would be ideal to connect for tourists travelling to Isla #Holbox via #Chiquila. But the bus company sadly views the train as a competitor rather than a coopetitor and offers its own Merida/Cancun/ #Valladolid - Chiquila bus service, which is slower, less comfortable etc (but I'll come back to global advantages of train travel later in the thread).
The station architecture is airy and green, and it's very peaceful. Maybe a bit too peaceful? Indeed a lot of shopping space seems to not have been rented out yet... Or isn't finished. Ticket counter staff was very friendly but couldn't help us out with our question, which is if there is public transport from #NuevoXcan to #Chiquila, as this will be on our future leg. #TrenMaya
