Yesterday's Volunteer work day was tough but rewarding in it's own way. Made good progress on the Privet removal (by uprooting). Had a Hermit Thrush come by to visit and serenade me while working, and the property manager informed me that the Buckeyes we rescued from the Wisteria were leafing out, and had two new shoots coming up! That is a big Yay! We had no idea we had Buckeye trees until we pulled off the Wisteria and could examine the leaves. Can't wait for them to flower.

The bird today is a Summer Tanager, a member of the Cardinalidae that visit us over the summer. Vivid red males, and mustard-yellow females with large bills. They are the only bird I have seen catching wasps.
