I was walking along and thinking, hmm, it smells like l’Air du temps, the perfume I used to wear when I was teenager. I kept walking for a moment and then connected my thoughts with my senses. Stopped in my tracks and went back to see what smelled so good. It’s common ninebark, a plant native to North America.
