It's #MosconiCup time again and this year it's being held in Alexandra Palace. A bit of a step up from York Hall where we went to watch the annual tournament a couple of times many years ago.
Europe certainly have had the beating of America in this over the last few years but a couple of rookies compared to all veterans in Team USA might make for a closer contest.
13-12 win to Gorst over Filler. Great contest, but felt that Filler had a couple of periods where he threw games away. Never ceases to surprise me just how generally slow the players are these days, though. Years ago we sat a few metres away from Earl Strickland running a rack and he only stopped moving while waiting for the cue ball to get around to where he was waiting for it on the next shot.
Pretty sure that the Venn diagram intersection of "Mastodon Users" and "People who like to watch 9-Ball Pool" contains me and maybe two other people who never post, but you know what, I'm going to share something anyway. Currently watching the World Pool Masters final and Germany's Joshua Filler is making some great shots like this jump, 6-ball bank, and pot of the 9-ball.

Surprised to find the #MosconiCup still going. Switched over to it just in time to see one of the most bizarre non-pots ever. The ball went down the pocket but seemed to have so much spin on it that it spun itself back up the interior of the pocket and onto the table. Some kid's reaction in the crowd looked like it would make a great meme for "WTF!?"
US Open Pool Final coming to an end soon - possibly - with Ko Ping Chung on the hill now, 12-6 up. We've just seen that the trophy is in the shape of the contiguous states of America. I like a trophy that says "Yeah, this is an American trophy! A pre-1959 American trophy! Fuck you Alaska and Hawaii!"
Currently watching the second semi-final in the #WorldCupOfPool between #Germany and #China, and the weirdly entertaining part of this tournament has been the choice of walk-on music for the German team: Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing On Rainbows by Andrew Huang.

Crazy stuff going on in the World Pool Masters right now with Austrian player Max Lechner having had three golden breaks in the first six racks. Currently 5-1 up over Mohammed Soufi. Earlier match saw my wife's crush, Neils Feijen, come back from 5-1 down to knock out top seed Joshua Filler.
