"Ask any astrologer when New Year should begin and they'll probably say the equinox. It wouldn't much matter if we counted from March 21 or September 21, at least we'd be following a system that made astronomical sense. The solstice would also be a fine time. Again we'd have a clear 'reason' to start counting. Even the Chinese system of using the annual New Moon in Aquarius would be better.

Продолжаем кулинарить. Традиционно в последнюю неделю года я делаю плюшки (так у нас принято называть улитки) с корицей, орехами и изюмом. Рецепт прост, сдобное тесто раскатываем в лепешку толщиной 5 мм. Посыпаем смесью сахара и корицы. Нарезаем мелко любимые орешки и сыпем на корицу, далее посыпаем изюмом (не важно светлый или темный) и скоуяиваем в рулет. Полученнвй рулет режем на полоски толщиной 2-2.5 см и выкладываем на противень смазанный сливочным маслом. В завершении кисточкой обмазываем яйцом и отправляем в духовку 180 градусов на 15 минут.
