Some people in #NewerLabour, like Sadiq Khan, talk sense. Others run around with their fingers in their ears going lalalalalalala.

Mayor of London says returning to EU now more desirable because of economic instability caused by Donald Trump

Apparently #NewerLabour don't have a sense of natural justice. That is, you don't steal other people's stuff. Handing out the burglary tools to thieves should never have been a preferred option.

@amyfallon

Perhaps it has something to do with Labor's underwhelming response to a massive political opportunity to enact real change. I can 't help thinking of the comparison with #NewerLabour here in the UK who pissed away a huge majority by lurching to the right. Now we're faced with the threat of Reform. Who wants the Quorn when you can have raw, red, dripping flesh?

Good. But I'm still suspicious because this is #NewerLabour. They enjoy giving the BBC a good kicking as much as any other party. The Devil's in the details.

@ZackPolanski

I used to like Miliband - he had sort of goofy integrity - but he's gone full #NewerLabour now.

#NewLabour hated Devolution. They only did it because they were more afraid of an independent Scotland, hobbling the assemblies with a better and fairer electoral system in the hope of ensuring continued Labour control. Didn't work with Holyrood and I hope the Senedd kicks the bastards out as well.

So no surprise #NewerLabour will try to thwart the wishes of the devolved regions.

I'm very happy about this. I don't want any of this AI bullshit to take physical form. But it is signature #NewerLabour to float vague promises and not deliver.

'The Greens’ victory in a Labour stronghold its first ever in a Westminster byelection establishes the party as a serious political force and a credible anti-Reform alternative.'

Will it persuade the BBC to put the Greens on Question Time with the same frequency as Farage? I somehow doubt it. I'm delighted, obviously, but my ideal running order would have put Reform in third place. #NewerLabour's takeaway message from the debacle will be to lurch further to the right.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
Who's the Reformiest of us all?

This is #NewerLabour, sleazy Farageist wannabes.

You know that Starmer and #NewerLabour are in deep shit when their biggest fan, Polly Toynbee, is moved to stick the knife in.

Is No 10 seeking its own destruction? Why else would it botch its council plans and hand a victory to Farage?

Labour promised ‘ambitious reforms’, but it was fixing things that were not broken. And the moral: focus on what matters and stop making stupid mistakes, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee
