Just guessing, but maybe go back to all the promises Starmer trashed when he became leader of #NewerLabour. When he had to compete against Corbyn.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government said: “Banning no-fault evictions is the biggest change to renting in a generation and will free families from the misery it has created. We brought in this ban as swiftly as possible while giving the sector enough time to prepare for these seismic changes.”

Exactly. #NewerLabour prioritised the interests of 'the sector' above the interests of tenants. It was obvious that this would happen.

I don't know why 'globalise the intifada' should be controversial in a government that's supposed to stand up for democracy and human rights. To struggle against documented apartheid and genocide is what oppressed people do, and #NewerLabour should certainly not be supporting rogue states like Israel and Russia. They should be helping the victims.

Antisemitism and Islamophobia deserve to be equally treated as twin evils, but instead the UK largely focuses on the former.

Heaven forfend that the #BBC should have the journalistic staff and expertise to hold the government to account. #NewerLabour will be pleased with their creature, Matt Brittin. A safe pair of hands.

It must be blindingly obvious that #NewerLabour doesn't want to know about Israeli crimes against international law, and it doesn't want us to know about them either. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to demonise pro-Palestinian activists. The hypocrisy will become clear if an MP stands up to protest the closure of the unit, and it will be confirmed when the government refuses to transfer the evidence already gathered to an institution that will do something with it.

'Streeting says welfare budget should be reduced, suggesting savings could fund higher defence spending.'

#NewerLabour are poisonous. This is a dog whistle to Reform voters saying the poor are to blame. It's possible to increase both welfare and defence with the priorities a proper Labour government should have.

The problem with 'Henry VIII laws' lies in the type of person they're named after, although I'm happy #NewerLabour is at last moving towards alignment with Europe. Reform and the Conservatives might express horror now, but if they were in power, they might find them very useful indeed for their own nefarious purposes.

#NewerLabour could return honestly to the EU if they had the political spine to acknowledge the damage Brexit has done. But if this half-arsed integration is what it takes, then so be it. Better than nothing.
