An antiquated system, that like the #LordsSpiritual, #HereditaryPeerages, and the #Monarchy, need to be abolished
This is not a complete list of reforms I'd like to see in the UK, but it is a good start.
The British Empire ended as had always been - in blood and almost unrepeatable horror. The Mau Mau rebellion and Malay Emerges saw the British state actively use concentrate camps and torture camps, murder of civilians; despite seeing the horrors of WW2. The anecdote about the Mau Mau rebellion I remember is one of the commanders patented a machine for castrating men. He was given many honours.
There are still British troops stationed in Kenya.
Good grief I hate the ‘Honours’ system, and now more than ever.
More corrupt every year, the usual handful of populist sops to the plebs to keep them onside while the flunkies get rewarded in their hundreds. ‘Your Lordship?’ Fuck off.
The only actual honour is in refusing to accept one.
