What is a #platform after all?

In our case it’s a part of the www having one owner and many users usually not affiliated otherwise. The owner being the sole source of rules and execution thereof, covering financial loss or benefit. Usually without a democratic process, but arbitrary, self-invented rules and policing.

They have in common a #feudal #asymmetry of power between the owners and the users. The users are many, but have very little #agency and face #arbitrariness. The owners are few and reside behind processes. Try to get a person with power to decide and act on the phone (let alone face-to-face) to hear appeal or resolve an issue, good luck.

Often platforms are what greed condensates to and #enshittification is their fate.

people like him are saying the same thing of the US government.; and they are making progress at destroying the democracy. most from folks who own corporation that are bigger (more money and lawyers) than countries and themselves too good to be regulated by a common people's #democratic government.

The #conservative people around the world all have the same goal. bring back the age of the #aristocracy and #feudal system of government. see 1390's for reference.

#Authoritarians understand the disruptive importance of social platforms, which is why the #Trump administration pushes back on EU regulation. We have to stand up for our values and our way of life as the big tech bros just want to push autoritarianism - it makes them and their cronies rich and the rest poor. If you wonder what such a #feudal #kleptocracy looks like, modern day Russia, Hungary or the ancient Versailles regime under the sun king are great examples.
