We had a really great night last night at the Naarm Solarpunk Meetup, at the great Maker Community makerspace in Brunswick.

We had to cap numbers at 35 because it’s not a massive space, but we had a lot of new faces, and people who were at our talks last month about “getting off big tech”, and “neighbourhood-first software”.

We had some Linux installs happening, a bunch of people started on Raspberry Pi setup to run nodes for https://lores.tech, and we had some discussions about getting off Spotify.

Boxes of goodies are ready for the new volunteers trying out the node setup instructions over at https://lores.tech . This will bring us up to 7 people trying out nodes in their own homes, which gives us some great practice on how to coordinate a digital commons for a region like Merri-bek.

गणतंत्र दिवस 2025: सन 2025 की शुरुआत में भारत को दो बड़ी खोजें मिलीं। इंडोनेशिया के राष्ट्रपति ने पाकिस्तान जाने का कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया और गणतंत्र दिवस पर राष्ट्रपति प्रोबोबो सुविआंतो (प्रभाबो सुविआंतो) मुख्य अतिथि होंगे। डायनासोर का चीन के आकर्षण से मुखातिब भी भारत की नामांकन पत्रिका है। गणतंत्र दिवस परेड में मुख्य अतिथि के तौर पर इस बार इंडोनेशिया के राष्ट्रपति प्रोबोबो सुविआंतो भारत आ रहे हैं। इंडोनेशिया और भारत के बीच ऐतिहासिक संबंध रहे हैं। यह सांस्कृतिक और आर्थिक रूप से भी दोनों देशों के भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकार के हैं। यही वजह है कि 1950 से लेकर अब तक चौथी बार इंडोनेशिया के राष्ट्रपति गणतंत्र दिवस परेड में मुख्य अतिथि के तौर पर बुलाया गया है। इस बीच यह भी खबर आई कि चीन के विदेश मंत्री वांग यी अचानक अमेरिका और राष्ट्रपति मुइज्जू से मिलने के दौरे पर आए। चीन के विदेश मंत्री का अचानक दौरा यह चुनौती इसलिए दिलचस्प है क्योंकि भारत और दोस्ती की पुरानी राह पर चल पड़े हैं। ऐसा इसलिए हो रहा है क्योंकि उसने पूरी तरह से अपने प्रभाव को लेने की कोशिश की है। लेकिन राष्ट्रपति मुअज्जू को ये बात समझ में आ गई कि चाइनीज़ बाती कर रही है, भारत का असल सहारा है। #RepublicDay2025 #IndiaIndonesiaRelations #PrabowoSubianto #IndiaMaldivesRelations #Geopolitics #ChinaInMaldives # IndianDiplomacy #Act EastPolicy #NeighbourhoodFirst
