On Friday we wrapped up Healthy Planet, Healthy Lives week at #NatureCamp by wishing Cleo the Red-eared Slider a very happy 31st birthday!

Cleo is the Humber Arboretum's Responsible Pet Care Ambassador, who helps us start conversations with campers and other visitors about why it's important to do your research before taking on the responsibility of sharing your home with an animal, and why domestic animals should never be released into the wild.

Happy Birthday, Cleo! Keep up the good work.

It's Healthy Planet, Healthy Lives week at Nature Camp, and yesterday some of our campers enjoyed a visit to the Humber Food Learning Garden (or just "the Veggie Garden" if you're ages 6 to 12).

On Friday, our new and returning Camp Leaders wrapped up five days of in-person training, preparing them to support and guide nature campers throughout the summer. Before camp kicks off tomorrow, let Assistant Camp Coordinator Hummingbird give you a little peek behind the scenes at what goes in to Camp Leader training at the Humber Arboretum.

An exciting find for our March Break Nature Campers this morning! Male White-tailed Deer shed their antlers each year then grow a new pair for the next mating season. We often feature shed antlers on our touch tables at events, but it's rare to actually find one yourself out on the trail!

Today our March Break Nature Campers tried out modeling with clay from the riverbank, some of which the older campers helped harvest and process earlier in the week. We'll see how their creations fare in the fire on Friday!

You know how sometimes when you're looking through photos, you notice an important detail that you didn't actually see in the moment?
Turns out we had a nature camper wearing an absolutely perfect bracelet last month.

This is Fantastic Freshwater week at Nature Camp, but the heat brought out the water games last Friday and - bathing suit or no - Arb Manager Beaver can't resist the camp water slide.

Happy Caturday! (Caterpillars count too, right?) This large and colourful Cecropia Moth caterpillar was a hit when they were spotted at Nature Camp last summer.
