Old Friend
This was one of the first characterful willows I got to know - now increasingly recumbent and home to new trees forming from the lichen adorning the mostly fallen main trunk, but still, my Old Friend. No visit to the estate would be complete without saying hello.

A delightful walk to a fine viewpoint over Strathspey - Tor Alvie. This beautiful wooded ridge high above the Spey and Kinara House. Pass the Waterloo Cairn before reaching the Duke of Gordon's monument, a great landmark with a wondeful outlook. One of the best short walks in the area.
Given the very recent history of this woodland being saved for this and future generations there's really only one song going through my mind:
It's a new dawn
It's a new day

Just over 3 weeks ago For Sale by Auction signs were put up for this piece of woodland. The auction was due to be held next Wednesday. There had been no prior consultation with our community. With very little time (< 4 weeks from signs going up to auction date) our community came together and have now saved this woodland for this and future generations.
