@tokyobybike I’m Disappointed that #NHKOnDemand service has degraded to videos going up a week after broadcast (no price reduction), so no more following the "76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen" during the holiday season 🤷 #kohaku

Just renewed our #SurfShark #VPN subscription for another two years. Doing a manual renewal for 24 months was practically the same price as the currently advertised in the Black Friday sale (£1.50+VAT a month but for 27 months).

We use this almost exclusively for watching (the Japanese television paid service) #NHKOnDemand from the UK 🇯🇵📺🇬🇧

I can tick off one of my pre-trip chores - got the #VPN working on macOS laptop (using #IKEv2 which is built in rather than installing some extra app), tested with Edinburgh (for BBC iPlayer #BBCiPlayer, kids love Bluey etc) and Tokyo (for NHK On Demand #NHKOnDemand, but won't need the VPN for that while in Japan)

Sad that #JSTV has shut down https://www.jstv.co.uk/ with no official NHK over internet replacement. The official way to watch #NHK World Premium in UK is now via FreeView https://nhkworldpremium.com/en/information/68 at £20/month, but I'm not faffing about with aerials and more wires.

Plan B is using the #NHKOnDemand website on FireTV, ¥990/month plus VPN, less than half the price. Clunky but seems to work.
