I'm brainstorming ways that #MyWhitePrivilege might be able to act as a shield or invisibility cloak because pretending that #WhitePrivilege doesn't exist doesn't help anyone.
#MyWhitePrivilege means that I've been able to talk my way out of multiple encounters with both cops and angry white men.
How can I use my #WhitePrivilege to help the most vulnerable while working to take down fascism & patriarchy?
I wasn't joking about wiping tears to go into work. That's in addition to the knots in my stomach.
Y'all have probably seen me post about my friend @SabiLewSounds and her dire straights. Hurricane #Milton has elevated her situation to life-threatening.
If a cat 4 or 5 hurricane was staring me down, my family would already be packed up and about to hit the road. #MyWhitePrivilege has even asked, "Why didn't those people leave?" before.
How are you supposed to evacuate when you have no money, an elderly mom with dementia, a bunny & a car with no a/c?
Not to mention having to leave your guitar and only worldly possessions in a hotel that may not be there in a week.

What would you do if you were living in an extended stay hotel with your mom, suffering from dementia, and a cat 3 or 4 hurricane was barreling towards you?
What if you had no money and hardly even food?
I guess part of #MyWhitePrivilege is that I've never had to worry about such a life-threatening situation. If something that bad was coming, my family would be packed up and getting the hellnput of dodge. That isn't an option for a lot of people. It wasn't an option for a lot of people during Helene & it's not an option for @SabiLewSounds and her mom.

Heads up to my fellow cis-het white friends:
People tend not to like it when you defy theit expectations and refuse to fit into their pre-labeled box.
It took them forever to get the label template to work with their printer & they just can't imagine starting over again. They'll never admit this to themselves, much less you, and will instead pick an innane fight over something unrelated.
This isn't to warn you to coform and blend in. Quite the opposite. My life is an exercise in confusing & frustrating people's fascistic desire to homogenize the world. It's just to warn you what to expect.
I suspect that #fascist tendency is involved in anti #LGBTQIA hatred to some degree or another. #MyWhitePrivilege allows for me to observe this effect without many other confounding factors.
I'm weird enough but normal looking enough that I have gotten to witness this effect enough to notice it. Tension arise for no other reason.
Winjay#MyWhitePrivilege is odd, because I only look white. Half my close relatives do not. When we were shopping together, clerks would ask if they could help me and tell my sister to put things back in the same breath.

did I deserve to go to jail? no
would a black man have gone to jail? probably yes
- when I started taking work semi seriously I talked my way into consulting gigs and then full time jobs despite having dropped out of college for Dead tour
was I great at the jobs I got? yep.
would an equally great black man have gotten those chances? maybe... but prob not
My #WhitePrivilege includes not being drug tested times that I would've failed.
