Mount Si rises above the red barn and farmhouse in North Bend, with evergreen forest climbing the cliffs behind them.

I like how the barns sit low and simple in the grass, while Mount Si stands tall behind them, filling most of the sky.

In addition to taking a walk in the park after last week's snow, I took a drive down to North Bend. The intent was to see if I could find some of the elk that live down that way and get some elk-in-the-snow shots. Alas, I did not see them.

So I stopped by one of my favorite views of Mount Si, figuring it would look very nice with a fresh coat of snow.

It did. :)

I spent my weekend getting out and enjoying the sun and the autumn color, visiting places both new to me and familiar.

The familiar place was Mount Si, which is the mountain partly responsible for me moving to Washington in the first place. I'd flown up to Seattle for a job interview and, afterwards, had a limited amount of time to explore the area. I ended up down in Snoqualmie, caught my first good view of Mount Si, and knew that I wanted to live here.

The new place was the aptly named High Steel Bridge, out on the Olympic Peninsula. It crosses a steep gorge over the South Fork Skokomish River and the view from the span is pretty great. I brought my drone so that I could include the bridge in a shot.

I hope you all had a great weekend, and are getting the opportunity to see some autumn colors in your area.
