This one guitar chord - a twangy but confident C Major. To some, it seems mournful. To me, it feels sonically overripe, as if someone had left it in a cupboard and it had sprouted, until it had its sprawling roots in every room of the house at 5.02pm. #MorbidMonday

Do you know, this is an interesting question because I find it very easy to.think of haunted house stories *set* in the 19th century, but almost all of them were written in the 20th. 'The Happy Autumn Fields' by Elizabeth Bowen has a real gnawing, exquisite sadness about it. #MorbidMonday

This statue depicts Saint Bartholomew, an early Christian martyr who was allegedly skinned alive. If you look closely, that's his dissected skin hanging around him. This stunning statute by Marco d’Agrate from c.1562 is currently on display at Duomo di Milano.

Voor #MorbidMonday ben ik weer eens in mijn Twitterarchief gaan spitten.
Deze foto's zijn gemaakt in de Oude Kerk van #Maasland.
Hoewel er niemand meer begraven ligt in de kerk, herinneren enkele grafzerken hier nog wel aan.
Bijzonder is ook dit bord met de tarieven voor begraven en herbegraven.
