My thought on hearing this, as well as news about the ongoing #Russian #disinformation campaign in #Moldova, makes me wonder if #Putin might be turning there as an exit from #Ukraine. He can't simply back out of Ukraine and say "oops, sorry, my bad" after a year of telling his citizens the #UkraineInvasion was justified.

Also, #Russia's pal #China has been making unusual overtures lately to both sides for a resolution.

Perhaps by moving against Moldova, Putin hopes for an easy win, and to distract his people from his failure.

#Transnistria is a strip of Russian-backed separatist territory between Moldova and Ukraine. Almost certainly, because Moldova is on the other side of Ukraine, Putin hopes to use them for military access, to surround Ukraine.

This makes it all the more vital that we defend #Moldovans and their #democracy, and help fight #RussianPropaganda however we can.
