The last of my latest batch of modeling clay sculptures.

I had just enough usable yellow clay to make his belt, and his head. And I was beginning to think referring to that stuff is "usable" was probably being a bit generous.

Honestly, I really like how this guy turned out. If I'm being overly critical, I did kind of notice one leg is just a teeny tiny bit longer than the other, but other than that, I'd say he turned out pretty good.

It was only a matter of time before I ended up making a cyclops.

This was definitely one of the more challenging sculptures I've ever made. Ihad to remake the bottom half entirely at least twice as I let it dry, because the legs kept collapsing, or folding in on themselves the wrong direction.

Also, I tell a lie: a small portion of the yellow clay was actually salvageable. Not enough to make anything substantial, but good enough to make an eye for Mr Cyclops here, and for another project that's currently drying as I dictate this.

I definitely feel like there's room for improvement. The hands, in particular, didn't turn out so great.

Beyond that, though, I think it turned out okay, complications not withstanding.

Happy Caturday. To celebrate the occasion, I made this cat.

I was a little worried it wouldn't turn out quite as I hoped. The ears, in particular, concerned me. I got the thinking maybe I could make them a little more triangular, so nobody mistakes it for a Chihuahua or something. I also thought about making it some eyes, but as I said last night, all the green clay dried up. Furthermore, all the black clay that would have used for a nose and pupils for the eyes mostly went towards another project entirely.

After showing it to my wife and my brother-in-law, though, they assure me that you can definitely tell it's supposed to be a cat.

Those initial concerns aside, I got to say, I'm actually quite proud of how this little kitty cat turned out. Probably one of my best works to date, if I do say so myself.

I've been hard at work on my latest modeling clay sculptures. One of them is pretty much done. The other two have to dry, and I'll see how they turn out once we get there. Unfortunately, I had to throw out a pretty decent amount of that variety pack from Crayola magic mold, her mold magic, or whatever it was called. The green and yellow in particular dried out while waiting for my use. Still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with the red clay.

Meanwhile, one of my projects is using good old fashioned Make Shoppe clay. Maybe it's because I've been using the Crayola mold magic for so long, but I forgot how much easier Make Shoppe is the work with. Or maybe that's because the Make Shoppe is a lot more fresh than what's left of the mold magic variety pack.

Photos to come, assuming I'm satisfied with the end result.

Went into my little studio earlier tonight, and as I was wrapping up, it occurred to me that I forgot to show this little guy off.

This was my first real experiment with making something that had legs and a tail. Also, the little Stegosaurus plates on its back I felt like we're a nice little touch. Ideally, I might have saved a little clay to make a little lizard tongue, or maybe even some eyeballs, but I think it still turned out pretty nice.

There's a bit of a crack in the underbelly near one of its shoulders, but the way I'm holding it in the photo, you can't see it. It's barely worth noting it exists, frankly.

All in all, I really like how this little lizard turned out.

WhileI figure out what my next sculpture will be, and how I'm going to go about making it, here's one of my earlier projects. In fact, this one was my very first one that I made all the way back in late January.

It's not the most advanced design ever, but I think it's a pretty good shark. The only thing I would have done differently if I could go back and do it again was maybe attempt to add some teeth, but even then, I think it's pretty recognizable.

Creating this shark gave me the drive to take up modeling clay again for the first time since middle school, and I've been having a lot of fun for the last month and a half since.

I had a dream last night. I'll spare you the details for now, and just say that I encountered an individual so mesmerizing, I woke up today and said to myself: "I think I know who's ending up on my things to sculpt list next."

The only foreseeable complication I can think of offhand is that they don't make teal air dry clay, as far as I know. I can probably mix blue and green together, though, and get in adequate result.

My modeling clay gymnast is complete.

Adding the hair to the base figure ended up being a lot easier than I thought. Although I thought for sure at one point, the head was going to break off. Thankfully, that didn't happen.

By contrast, the leotard ended up being pretty challenging. Not impossible, or even difficult, necessarily, but I kept worrying about little details like one sleeve being thicker than the other, or that she might be showing too much hip on this side, etc.

All in all, I think it turned out okay. Again, I kind of wish I had more white clay to work with, if only to make more detailed hands and feet, and maybe attempt some approximation of a face. But all in all, I'm kind of proud of how this one turned out.

, this is also giving me the inspiration and motivation to possibly make other figurines.

The beginning of my latest sculpting project. Made using Crayola mold magic.

So far, I have the main body. I'm hoping to add some hair, and a leotard in order to make it a proper gymnast sculpture.

Not going to lie, I feel kind of ripped off. The variety pack I bought the other day came with one really large glob of red, one large glob of blue, and four teeny tiny globs of yellow, green, black, and white.

I hope this figure turns out okay. I feel like I could have added more detail if I had more clay to work with. In particular, I could have given it a face, maybe some more detailed hands and feet, etc.

I'm also not thrilled with the fact that the abdomen is as long as it is, but it's too late to fix now.

I'll probably give my final verdict of mold magic when I finished everything, but for now, I'd say it's okay.

#introduction: My username comes from the fact that

A. Well I still have both of my eyes, only one of them functions somewhat properly anymore.

B. I've really gotten back into sculpting with modeling clay fairly recently.

I look forward to sharing my projects with those who are interested. And in the interim, maybe making some friends outside of X. I'll see where the journey takes me. Looking forward to meeting you all.
