@mookie I liked #Sinners too & would give it an 8 out of 10

IMO, it should have won the #Oscar for Best Picture over #OneBattleAfterAnother.

What I most like about the movie is its nod to the #MississippiChinese who acted as a commercial intermediary between the Black & White communities. There are books & documentaries that have been written & made specifically on this topic & it's rare for a mainstream movie to even acknowledge it.

@sysop408 I liked the music & dancing scenes in #Sinners. The rest of the movie not so much. I gave it a 7 out of 10 for entertainment value for me. 🤷‍♂️

l particularly liked historical nod to the #MississippiChinese who immigrated to #Mississippi beginning in the 1860's & who filled a gap between the black & white communities in the South by operating grocery stores throughout the state which served both.

I also liked that the 2 Asian actors who played the Chinese grocery store owners in the movie were not required to speak with a Chinese accent but spoke with a Southern accent, which reminded me of my ex's relatives in Houston who not only spoke English with a Southern accent but spoke Cantonese that way too! It was really odd hearing that for the 1st time.
