Yesterday I posted about the Mini Marcos and its cousin, the Mini Jem. The concept of rebodying Mini components in a sportier package had enduring appeal, and the Mini Marcos evolved into the Mini Midas, which is still with us today. This is the Midas Gold Mk3, which was launched in 1985. I saw this one at the recent NEC Classic Motor Show. (1/2)

A few days ago, I explained how Innocenti rebodied the Mini in 1974 to give it a modern look and a practical hatchback. Meanwhile, back in Britain, the thriving domestic kit car industry liked to give the Mini new sets of clothes too. Meet the Midas Mk2 coupé, a later evolution of the respected GRP/composite bodied Mini Marcos line that dated back to the sixties. I saw this one at the recent Practical Classics resto show at the NEC.
