"Mika Josephine Westwolf was killed on March 31st 2023 north of Arlee, MT in the early morning hours. She was run over by a white supremacist by the name of Sunny Katherine White. Sunny was driving with her 4 year old son Aryan and 2 year old daughter Nation when she hit and killed Mika walking on the side of the road. We are in the process of seeking justice for Mika with the local authorities, whose cooperation has been frustrating, at best, so far (in my opinion, outright discriminatory and intentionally incompetent!)

"Why are we seeking justice? Because Mika’s life mattered. She was a beautiful human being with so much to live for and contribute to this world for years to come.

"This is an awful tragedy for our family. Mika’s hopes and dreams were taken away by this perpetrator who committed this crime. This person did not even brake or try to avoid hitting her. Instead, the person drove off and did not even try to provide any aid to our girl, leaving her on the side of the road.

"We need your support as we must proceed with our tribal advocates/friends that have been helping since the beginning. We are trying to find answers and work with local authorities to find justice for Mika Westwolf. We will not give up. We will not stop. We will not let this be another story of 'just another dead Indian' or that she was somehow to blame for this atrocity. Someone committed this crime, and we will not allow this to become another unsolved MMIW case.

"We are doing whatever we can to help other families facing this situation and bring awareness to the larger public about this systematic failure of MMIW. Our lives matter as #NativeAmericans.

"Why? Because each individual who is missing or murdered has family who love them and are continuing to grieve. There is no closure for us.

"Our girl may be gone, but we will keep her memory alive. Justice for Mika Westwolf will happen, and we will not rest until it is met."

"In the early morning of March 31, 2023, Mika Westwolf, a 22-year-old #Indigenous woman, was walking on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 93, which passes through the Flathead reservation in Montana. Westwolf was struck by a Cadillac Escalade and declared dead at the scene.

"Authorities said that 28-year-old Sunny White was behind the wheel of the Escalade with her two young children in the back seat and fled the scene. White is allegedly a #WhiteNationalist; she named her children 'Aryan' and 'Nation.' Some speculated that Westwolf's death was a #HateCrime."

Indigenous Woman Mika Westwolf Reportedly Killed By Driver Whose Kids Are Named Aryan And Nation

Twenty-two-year-old Mika Westwolf was walking to her home on the Flathead Reservation in Montana late at night in March when she was struck and killed by a driver who then allegedly left the scene.

Details quickly emerged suggesting an ideological element to the crash. The driver — identified by police as 28-year-old Sunny White — was with her young children, Aryan, 4, and Nation, 2.

Many in the community believe White is a white nationalist and that the crash was intentional.

And yet, more than two months later, White has yet to face charges stemming directly from Westwolf’s death.

Was Mika Westwolf Killed by White Nationalist? Indigenous Woman’s Parents & Community Demand Justice

We speak with the parents of Mika Westwolf, a 22-year-old Indigenous woman struck and killed in March by a driver as she was walking home along the highway in the early morning hours. The parents and allies are on a “Justice to Be Seen” march to call for justice and an investigation. Westwolf was a member of the Blackfeet Tribe and was also Diné, Cree and Klamath. The driver has been identified as Sunny White, a suspected white nationalist whose children are reportedly named “Aryan” and “Nation” and were in the car at the time of the crash. White has not been charged in connection with Westwolf’s death, but it’s part of an apparent pattern in which many Indigenous people are killed or hit by vehicles along Highway 93. “They need to hear us and see us,” says Westwolf’s mother, Carissa Heavy Runner. “Listen to our stories and feel our pain and see our pain.” Erica Shelby, a tribal legal advocate for missing and murdered Indigenous women, discusses the details of the case and how she is in Washington, D.C., to demand action from lawmakers. “Everybody has the same story about the same players, the same agencies, the same police, the same attorneys,” says Shelby. “Enough is enough.”
