Houston-Galveston Area Council to host public meetings about 2050 regional transportation plan

Meetings are scheduled to be held in July and August in the eight counties that make up the H-GAC Metropolitan Planning Organization: Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller.

Houston voters, by approving Prop B, said they wanted the city to have more proportional representation on the Houston-Galveston Area Council and its Transportation Policy Council. But that may not happen.

Houston-area transportation council rejects proposal to give city more proportional representation

Prop B, passed by Houston voters in November, compels the city to leave a regional council of governments and metropolitan planning organization if it cannot negotiate for more proportional representation based on its population.
