Favorite bit of iron. A dockside scene, probably made in Pennsylvania, ca. 1720-30. I think it shows Philadelphia’s port, but hard to tell.

Really clever perspective in the warehouses piling up on one another. Would love to find out more about the mould’s carver, but it’s anonymous. They were certainly trained in Germany.

Concrete window frames accent this dim niche in the fascinating multi-story poured-concrete Mercer Museum in Doylestown PA, US. The 1916 museum is chockablock with pre-industrial tools and everyday objects, from a whaling boat to wood planes. Highly recommended.
