In Judge Engoron’s #SummaryJudgement, the order for dissolution of all Trump businesses, it discusses disgorgement — which is legalese for what they have to pay for their “ill-gotten gains.”

#Trump atty, #Kise objected to the #Mccarty testimony saying the calculations aren’t "ill-gotten gains" for the purposes of disgorgement w/o testimony banks wouldn't authorize the loans w/accurate SFCs.

(Besides the amt they’ll pay, the trial determines if they get barred from operating in NY)

Het duurde even, maar na vijftien stemrondes werd Kevin McCarthy in de nacht van vrijdag op zaterdag eindelijk verkozen tot nieuwe spreker van het Amerikaanse Huis van Afgevaardigden. Hij volgt Nancy Pelosi op, die eind november haar vertrek aankondigde nadat de Republikeinen de meerderheid in het Huis hadden gewonnen bij de tussentijdse verkiezingen. Wat kunnen we verwachten van McCarthy als voorzitter?

Here's the kicker I've been looking for: If the US House of Representatives doesn't have a Speaker, it can't count electoral votes for US President. And the new rules allow one(!) member to challenge the speaker. This means: there is a legal way for a Republican minority (or Democrat, though much more unlikely) to stop the result of a presidential election if they don't like the voter's choice.
