MylesRydenMastodon instances (servers) are independent. Most, like the one I am on, are full of "random" people because anyone can sign up.
BUT
Some instances are specialized and have accounts from maybe organization or directed at people with certain interests.
For example, an example of specialization is https://botsin.space/, which only hosts bots.
Now, the fun thing is that you can go there and look at the local feed and see what is coming out of that instance.

The coollest thing I have found on Mastodon so far is the Federated Feed.
This feed is a sample (randomish sample) of what is going around Mastodon, apparently influenced by what people on the instance I use are favoriting or retooting.
However it works, it is bringing in a TON of fun stuff that I would never think to actually look for. Much more fun than any "suggested posts" pulled from an algorithm.
