Me, to #MaryKitty today in "Things I never thought I'd say"
Tuesday will be a week without access to the balcony (on which the HOA guy has done ~4 hours of work, so far). We’re all out of sorts as no one here is a fan of disruptions to our routines and/or our peace. Here’s Mary, cranky that I’m not sitting in my usual spot (where 1/3 of the window is blocked by construction stuff).

If you were here, you’d spot an old green reusable plastic/cloth bag on the living room floor and think “well that’s messy”
But my shy Mary sees it as a hunting blind. She lays on it and finds her confidence as a huntress and actually joins in at playtime. The bag stays.

#MaryKitty is my canary in a coal mine. If she’s on top of the cabinets and it’s not because it’s too loud (she hates the huge fan and dress shoes across the hard floor) it’s generally a sign that my vibe is off and I should check in and regulate. Poor, sensitive girl, I get it. I catch other people’s vibes, too.

Rare Mary balcony visit. Isn’t she pretty?
Did you mistake her for Studs? She’s smaller, not eartipped, has a ring of white around her neck, only has one eye covered by tabby, and has a longer tail with more defined rings and a white tip. Oh and her legs are mostly white (whereas Studs has a tabby “sleeve” on one front and one back leg.

Someone I used to know considered Mary to be antisocial. Nope. She’s just got very firm boundaries. Be in one of the spots where she feels safe, let her come to you and she’s ALL about the loves. Her tail even puffs up and quivers with cuddle happiness.
