I was inspired to try something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, combining paper and embroidery.

A friend of mine invited me to her birthday party next weekend so I made this card for her, I think it turned out pretty nice, especially for a first try! I tried to recreate the minimalist style of cards that are often found in indie book stores etc at the moment, at least around here

Eine befreundete Person hat mich zu ihrer Geburtstagsfeier nächstes Wochenende eingeladen, und ich hab ihr jetzt diese Karte gemacht, ich finde für einen ersten Versuch ist es echt gut geworden! Ich hab versucht den Stil zu imitieren der zur Zeit viel auf Karten in unabhängigen Buchhandlungen etc zu sehen ist, zumindest hier in der Gegend

I was organizing some old photos and found some of the original Little Buddies I made as a teenager!

I think they are the very first thing I ever sewed!

I remember a bunch of them were meant to represent people in my life, but all I remember now is the tiny pink dome one with 2 different eyes was me and the denim one was my brother (both clearest in photo 2).

I don't have any of them anymore, but I posted a photo of the buddies I've been sharing here on a site I have some family on, and the next time I talked to my dad like a week later he was raving about how much he loved them and told me he still has one of the ones I made back then! 😭 (our relationship is very complicated, so it hits hard to have him be so excited about an art project like this that honestly means so much to me, never mind find out he held on to a silly little doll I made and gave him as a teen for 15+ years)

Anyways, these are the original Little Buddies that inspired this project!

I just realized I never posted the last of the little buddies I made before taking a break!*

Besides 1 bulk bag of assorted buttons I've been committed to not buying anything for this project (the fabric is all from undonateable outgrown clothing/old projects/old stained sheets/etc and they are even stuffed with scrap fabric that's I cut up into tiny shreds) I decided the only reasonable way I had to give the little teal buddy an eyebrow piercing (which he really really wanted) was to use one of the cheap rings I got pierced with years ago lol. 😜

*I'll hopefully make more at some point, but right now my new job is wiping me out

@Tamami Eh, I might. Though I might feel compelled to add the #MakeBadArt tag to most of the stuff i made this year (but that's alright, I had fun making it, even if it's not really great).

i want movies that break my immersion for reasons other than metahumor.

have the title motif suddenly show up diagetically. a nonverbal title drop.

use the take where the actor flubs the line, keep going like nothing happened.

use special effects that are fairly obvious, don't worry about realism as long as it looks Cool.

its ok for your characters to have minimal backstory. you can really just say "this guy's a radio host, but in space" and thats plenty!

That sounds like a brilliant solarpunk art piece!!!

If I may be so bold, would you consider a little experiment? A little play for your child self who may not have been nurtured in artistic expression as helpfully as might have been?

You might try getting a child or student newsprint type pad of paper, and a box of crayons. Draw and color your meadow and lawn. Just for fun. Just play.

It doesn't have to be "good" by any "standards".

Your insights are bang on. That image is powerful. That drawing could be a very effective message.
