A sack of Maui Lemons!

I was excited today to buy my very first bag of produce grown in one of Maui's old sugar cane fields -- 35,000 acres of which went fallow when Hawaiʻi's last sugar mill at Puʻunēnē, #Maui closed in 2016.

These vast fields were bought up by an enterprise called #MahiPono with the intent of creating #LocalAgriculture for local consumption -- economic recycling that doesn't happen much here.

Having less of our fresh produce shipped from the mainland is a very good thing.
