Una discrepanza tra incassi dichiarati e le rimanenze del magazzino. È il campanello d’allarme che ha messo all’erta il proprietario di un ristorante del Salento che, confrontandosi con il suo commercialista, si è accorto che i conti non tornavano. Così, ha deciso di volerci vedere chiaro e il suo sospetto è cresciuto fino a diventare un’indagine portata avanti dalla Procura di Lecce. Nel registro degli indagati è stato iscritto un caposala di Maglie, 45 anni, impiegato del locale e accusato di furto aggravato e continuato.
Stando a quanto ricostruito da Il Corriere della Sera, tra agosto 2024 e ottobre 2025 l’uomo avrebbe sottratto al bilancio del ristorante oltre 45mila euro, per la precisione 45.287,63. Un totale di 2.789 comande. Tutte sparite dal sistema informatico e delle quali avrebbe trattenuto i pagamenti in contanti ricevuti dai clienti. Le operazioni, eliminate dall’archivio di dati visibili, sarebbero però rimaste nel server del locale, permettendo a chi sta conducendo le indagini di risalire all’irregolarità dei conti.
L’identità dell’indiziato e alcune dinamiche compatibili con le ipotesi delle sue azioni, reiterate nel tempo, sarebbero state ricostruite incrociando le immagini delle telecamere di sorveglianza con gli accertamenti della Guardia di Finanza. Intanto, gli investigatori stanno continuando a lavorare per avere un quadro quanto più chiaro possibile della vicenda.

It was the alarm bell that alerted the owner of a Salento restaurant that, upon consulting with his accountant, realized that the accounts didn’t add up. So, he decided to get to the bottom of it, and his suspicion grew into an investigation carried out by the Lecce Prosecutor’s Office. A head waiter from Maglie, 45 years old, an employee of the establishment, was listed as investigated, accused of aggravated and continuing theft.
According to what was reconstructed by Il Corriere della Sera, between August 2024 and October 2025 the man would have stolen over 45,000 euros from the restaurant’s balance sheet, specifically 45,287.63. A total of 2,789 orders. All vanished from the computer system and of which he had retained the cash payments received from customers. However, the operations, deleted from the visible data archive, remained on the restaurant’s server, allowing those conducting the investigation to trace the irregularities in the accounts.
The identity of the suspect and some dynamics compatible with the hypotheses of his actions, repeated over time, were reconstructed by cross-referencing the images from surveillance cameras with the investigations by the Finance Police. Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to work to obtain the clearest possible picture of the case.
