If you have to spend over a minute minutely examining every frame to determine whether the lack of daylight between an offside player's shorts and the ball going past means there was contact or not, it's pretty clear they were interfering with play regardless and the goal should be ruled out as offside.

(If the boundary for "interfering with play" lies between "hit shorts but not body" and "hit shorts and body", football is lost.)

Hear me out - what if, and I know this is mad, we had some "assistant referees" who could provide backup eyes? And, right, what if, right, there were some kind of, I dunno, camera system in the football ground filming the action? I know, MENTAL, but listen, right, then you could, I dunno, replay or review the action and see if a foul was actually committed? What a world that would be!
