ATLANTIS FOUND (By Me) In The SAHARA

For the past few weeks and months I have been obsessed by Atlantis. I always thought it existed but then changed my mind and felt it was all part of Plato's mind. But in studying through Plato's work lately I can see that some of his work would be based in history. I think he has definitely used ...

Victor Rousseau's Eric of the Strong Heart. A Saxon princess from the Dark Ages displayed as a sideshow attraction turns out to be a real Saxon princess. Her ancient kingdom still exists, in the frozen Arctic. A fine 1918 lost world novel.

Don Wilcox’s 1943 novel The Ice Queen is a fine lost civilisation tale. A 19th century polar expedition is shadowed by a pretty girl who looks like a Viking maiden, riding a pure white tiger. The girl cannot exist. And yet she does exist. And she's a queen.

Henry Carew’s Vampires of the Andes, a 1925 lost world novel. Inscriptions found in the Andes are linked to unimaginably old civilisations. The metaphysical, quasi-religious, mystical esoteric themes are interesting, if exceedingly weird.

John Taine’s The Purple Sapphire, an excellent 1924 lost world adventure tale. There's a kidnapped girl, an extraordinary sapphire and a genuinely interesting lost civilisation which is no utopia, there are complex heroes and plenty of danger.

The Sea Girl is a 1930 lost world novel by Ray Cummings dealing with a lost world in the deeps of the ocean. As a bonus, there are mermaids. Of a sort. There's also a beautiful but evil undersea empress and atomic submarines. A fine adventure.

Today I was reminded of a documentary I saw a few years ago.

I've always had a fascination with the Easter Island heads. I want one in my garden (scaled down of course)

For those who may not know, the heads are not just heads... But entire carved bodies with intricate markings on them.

I'd love to know the true meaning of these giant stone carvings. But like many civilisations that have come before. This is another one lost to time.
