In fact, for at least some of the years in the recent decade, the rate of smokers in #Israel has stopped decreasing. This is mainly because taxing of tobacco made it much more affordable to roll your own cigarettes, and people switched to those instead of quit to smoking.

That "health basket" committee has a reputation of being very professional. That structure also manages to get drug companies to bargain on prices to get their drugs included, which is great. That is not to say that they don't
use dirty tricks (such as organizing pressure groups of patients). That said, I have never heard before of successful pressures from the
ministerial level.
