LinesCAD

Yorik from FreeCAD started a side project: #LinesCAD

This should be a stripped version only focused on (Architectural) #CAD and #BIM. And I must be honest I think that is a good idea.

I always watched at FreeCAD as the "Blender" for everything about 3D CAD/CAE; but while in Blender each tools more ore less partecipate or can be integrate into the same project or goal, whether is the video editor, the paint brushes or the node editor; architecture and industrial design, may use similar tools but are two separate disciplines.

And FreeCAD has always had a bigger base of mechanical engineer designers rather than architects, so I always have had this feeling the architectural part was pushed into by force and not organically.

This project confirmed my intuition. I am still hoping FreeCAD can become the ultimate CAD/CAE tool, but eventually it will always more focused on the side where it receives more feedback and I am pretty sure it won't ever be the architectural side.
