#cdrama #BlossomsInAdversity already has me crying in episode 7 of 40. 🥹

Is the word "blossoms" in the title a plural noun or a verb? 🤔 Seems similar to "Steel Magnolias," "Fried Green Tomatoes," and "Little Women". In other words: really good!

Hu Yitian is a very tall Batman with his broad shoulder pads and dark color scheme.

I really liked Zhang Jingyi in #LighterAndPrincess and her character in this is good, too.

Yikes, dude. If you buy her a whole ass island and she still won't hold your hand? 😬

The Banghe Troupe road trip! I love bestie's outfit and style.

🤨 the jokes about the fat singer lady weren't cool. Error. I actually love that lady's gold crown and bright pink shirt. Fun style! He be-tassled male accompaniment was also in #LighterAndPrincess !

"Living as a joke isn't good." 😂 Lady, you usually do NOT want to be in a comedian's joke.

Something you want to see in more dramas?

Acceptance and valuing the humanity of former felons.

My Sweet Mobster is about giving folks a second chance, without denying the mistakes of their past, and valuing them as they are - beautiful flawed humans that deserve love, joy and happiness, too.

Back on my bullshit again of watching a good drama I've seen already. It eases anxiety knowing what happens in the future.

Anyhoo, Lao Gao asks Zhu Yun if something is wrong with her and MiaoMiao, but it is just a frigid standoff. Li Xun overheard, and THAT'S why he publicly criticized MiaoMiao. To break the ice and have them resolve their issue. He pissed MiaoMiao off so Zhu Yun could resolve the tension.

I hadn't caught that before.

Day 31: Favourite drama of 2023

Lighter & Princess

My first review of it:

Wow, I think this was one of my favorite cdramas EVER. Seriously. It is so well done. The acting from being freshmen in college, to seniors in college, to late 20s adults really shows the difference in their hair, clothing, personalities. For 36 episodes, it didn't feel like any of it was filler. Each character was multi-faceted, with no true all-good or all-evil. Great chemistry between the leads. Great storytelling on multiple plot lines of how the naivety and optimism of youth can diverge as success enters the picture. Great discussion of discrimination against people with criminal backgrounds re-entering society. And profitability of sexism?

Great discussion of discrimination against people with criminal backgrounds re-entering society. And profitability of sexism? I have a minor quibble with time-line as I think the incident causing the male lead to go to jail was in January but the event that drove him to it was in March? My first opinion of the female lead was meh, but she really shown through the whole series and made me fall in love with her long before the end.

OK. I finished episode 35. There is only one episode left, but I've seen the whole series already. I think I mostly wanted the build-up for when Li Xun finally admits to Zhu Yun that he has liked her for a very long time and wants to be with her again.

The first watch through, I remember it being very tense with this "Zhu Yun possibly dating Lao Gao" plot. Her hitting "Post" was just so unexpected (and also perfect). But it felt like hardly a blip on this second pass.

My favorite part is how he doesn't wash the shirt she slept in. And when she throws it at him and he smells it. That is just ... so real. A lover's scent just hits different.

I also love when Hou Ning comes back sheepishly after Zhu Yun brings him to his new room. When he asks Li Xun, "How is Zhu Yun's cooking?" "Horrible." "Well, at least she has one detractor."

Because Zhu Yun is too perfect. I still love her anyway.

"I promise you. I will never destroy myself again."

😭😭😭😭😭

Zhu Yun took way too much responsibility onto herself for Li Xun's destructive decisions. He drove her away so hard.

And she was so so scared he was close to repeating a violent act. So so scared of him losing all the good he has again.

She is just too good for him.
