I believe computing freedom has many aspects. When it comes to software, for instance, we should be able to view, modify, and share the code. Ideally, we should be able to easily switch to different software, like by using an open, common file format, so that no one is forced to stick with the same software.
Hardware is just as important. It should be easy for anyone to repair using simple tools, and as many parts as possible should be interchangeable. Plus, all the information needed to rebuild the product should be accessible to everyone.

Liberate the Computer! We prioritize user freedom to put power back in the hands of the people so you can innovate quickly and create the future you want to live in.

This Independence Day, we're releasing new "Liberate the Computer" merch to spark conversations on how we as a community can transform the world into something better. This new merch also comes free with your new System76 computer thru July 8th! #LiberateTheComputer https://s76.co/cWrHp2UI

@system76

I'm pretty young (gen z) so my meaning of computing freedom is probably different to a lot of others. Computing freedom means being able to use the hardware an owner has in whatever way they wish, they can put a different OS on it, write a custom bios, take the components apart and put them into a custom case, and use one time fee or FOSS software. Basically they own the hardware and should be able to do whatever they want with it.

@system76 after decades of monolithic corporations forcing me to pay for upgrades that perform worse than what I have how's (and that I didn't ask for) all while abandoning the security updates for it's users who dont upgrade, #computingfreedom puts the power of choice and security in my hands. Take that closed source crap and #LiberateTheComputer with open source and publicly reviewed software

@system76 Computing freedom to me, means having control over my digital tools and data. e.g. The ability to run, modify, and understand your software without vendor lock-in or surveillance.
