A friend recommended this podcast episode about the question of what a species actually is, and I thought it was great so I’m passing it on: https://podcasts.apple.com/ch/podcast/lets-learn-everything/id1587816694?i=1000662607868

I can’t figure out how to link to individual episodes outside of the Apple Podcasts app, sorry! But it’s Let’s Learn Everything episode 66 and I’m sure you can find it here somehow: https://www.letslearneverything.com/

I learned from #LetsLearnEverything that apparently triangles are famously hated and roasted on.

Which. Like, I sort of get it. It doesn't have a distinct pitch, you are not harmonizing with that thing.

But do you REALLY find the Triangle worse than the kids playing cheap recorders?

Like, I know in theory there's professional recorder music and maybe they spent more than their allowance on the instrument.

But my music education in elementary school was probably not even a percent of playing triangle (though I remember it with some other percussion stuff) whereas awful migriane-inducing recorder music no one sounded good in: probably at least 75% of that.

Which is why: no, I think triangle is better than recorder*

  • I will make this note that there exist other recorders like alto recorders which sound slightly better because they weren't shrill, but at no point have I heard someone sound GOOD playing one

In my ongoing pursuit to share more things I like, love or enjoy (#PositiveVibes), I'd like to share a #podcast today that has become my favorite one last year: #LetsLearnEverything. Three #science nerds (and content creators) prepare a topic and present it to the others.

Surprisingly nuanced but still very entertaining, mainly due to the dorky humor of and great chemistry between the hosts. One of the few podcasts that leaves me smarter but also makes me laugh a lot.

I am feeling "seen" given this explanation of Prosopagnosia. (On the podcast #LetsLearnEverything )

I felt like such a faker because I can't recognize my dad at the airport or get teased for thinking Tom Hanks is in a bunch of movies he's not actually in.

Because I can "see" faces they just don't mean much to me unless you have a really distinguishing trait

@Juju I've listened to two episodes of #LetsLearnEverything so far and I'm a fan. Thank you for recommending this!

(I still need to listen to Just the Zoo of Us)
