My 10-year-old was upset today because his #Lego Boost kit had an issue. The motors still turned but it wasn't making sounds.
#TechSupport dad to the rescue! My research revealed you can update the firmware in these things but that the #LegoBoost app can't/won't do it.
Instead, you have to install the separate Lego Power Up app, pair that to the Boost unit and *then* you can update the firmware.
This worked to restore sounds to the Lego Boost unit and now 10-year-old is happy again. 😀
We got a #legoboost set 17101 for kid2 and it requires an app to program. Couldn't install it on the kids tablet, not on the parents tablet.
I'd never imagine that support for a set from 2017 would be so bad, but here we are.
But 🙏 we can still use this old (2017) set, thanks to #floss projects like #scratch or #pybricks! 💪
Lesson learned, again and again: proprietary software sucks!
