I found that this is something I ultimately do with all my hobbies: find how they can be done for cheap.

I don't really know why, it's part of my mindset, I need to prove that they can be practiced without spending a lot of money to buy the latest expensive stuff.

And that passion/skill is more important than money thrown at buying gear.

Also, I think that good objects shouldn't be thrown away, they deserve to be used as long as possible, and that efforts should be spent to keep them in good shape.

There is certainly more to it, but that may explain a bit my interests for things like #lowtech #retrocomputing, old mechanical objects, etc.
