Although the rest of the world often judges or questions my knowledge of English, it is actually not that easy to learn English in Malaysia. Some people are more influenced by American English, such as local entertainment, while teachers and news providers often use British-influenced English. Malaysian English is in search of an identity, I guess, clashing with both American and British English. When we try to use a Malaysian accent, it is also hard to understand, even when I try. This is in contrast to my experience listening to native English speakers, due to the slang that only certain groups of people understand. #MyEnglish #ManglishPride #LanguageIdentity #MalaysianDilemma #BritishVsAmerican #LinguisticColonization #ProudlyMangled #Education #Opinions #English #MalaysianEnglish
