Looked up the #KOSMA https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/119/s278/text and #KOSA https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/119/s1748/text bills, which have been driving my anxiety for months because of their #freeSpeech implications.

The former explicitly does not apply to sites/apps that don't have ads and don't sell users' personally-identifiable information. The latter explicitly does not apply to non-profits.

That means Fedi, XMPP, IRC, forums, etc are all exempt.

So yet another killing the #internet bill has emerged and it is the #KOSMA. Much like #KOSA (which it'll be re-introduced shortly) it has the potential to basically have a wrecking ball to #privacy, #security, and online freedom of expression all in one.
