Oddly, for a film about projectionist, #KingsoftheRoad isn't about cinema. It's more to do with changing times. Typesetter, projectionist - dying professions are regarded fondly w/ much melancholy. It ends w/ Winter visiting a shuttered theater. The owner laments that her late father did not allow showing 'whatever passes as film nowadays'. A lot of pregnant silences and lots of mundane in the film. Film used to mean art of seeing. It’s us who needs to find meaning in everyday life. #wimwenders
Tonights 📽️ : #KingsOfTheRoad #Cinema #Film Not my favorite of #WimWenders 3 hours long in #BlackandWhite . Sound (everything) in Mono.(but appropriate for this film). Music was great. Cinematography was nice (Muller is so great), but felt it was more of a "you had to be in Europe in the 70's to really get it" (didnt realize this was part of a trilogy)(also didnt realize while watching that this was all improvised) Just my opinion tho. Anyways it won at Cannes, so what do I know..?
