In general Princess of Wales as a fanfic does a consistently good job of presenting the commonly accepted values of WWII societies whilst, at the same time, asserting that “Actually, we CAN and we SHOULD be better than this” as the core attitudes of the main characters. I’m very OK with this, it’s part of why I like and recommend the fic.

To her credit, Gwen didn’t actually KNOW about the White Australia Policy (her original was British with more interest in the Napoleonic Era than WWII) until coming to Australia.

Look, until they start maturing (i.e. spend time being constantly in combat ops) destroyers tend to be young girls with 4” guns and a plethora of AA guns.

As in early teen or pre-teen.

It’s not a recipe for, ah, peaceful times for the capitals/cruisers (who are at least young women as ship spirits) responsible for corralling the destroyer girls and keeping them (mostly) out of trouble… #kancolle
