In general Princess of Wales as a fanfic does a consistently good job of presenting the commonly accepted values of WWII societies whilst, at the same time, asserting that “Actually, we CAN and we SHOULD be better than this” as the core attitudes of the main characters. I’m very OK with this, it’s part of why I like and recommend the fic.

To her credit, Gwen didn’t actually KNOW about the White Australia Policy (her original was British with more interest in the Napoleonic Era than WWII) until coming to Australia.

But her opinions, voiced publicly in Canberra in story once she DOES know are VERY clear (and very unpopular with the politicians of the day. Gwen doesn’t care).

And it is also to the credit of Perth/Miss Leander that she has come to agree with Gwen/Wales since they’ve been fighting together. #Kancolle

One thing about Princess Of Wales as a fanfic is that the MC Gwen is a reincarnate from the future… so she more or less knows the course of the War and the Cold War, and also VERY MUCH DOES NOT APPROVE of things like the White Australia Policy… and will SAY SO publicly. #Kancolle

And, after fighting by her side for years now, so does Perth… (or Miss Leander as she’s also known)
