Kaimukī, the name for a section of Honolulu, is another name often mispronounced by those familiar with the common Hawaiian word kai. Kaimukī means “the ti oven” and is a compound word made up of ka for “the,” imu for “oven,” and kī for “ti.”

Went on a family hike and got to spend most of with my daughter. She’s become an extremely adept hiker: careful and attentive. We hiked a razor-back ridge just mauka of #Kaimuki on #Oahu as part of my wife’s Hiking With Keiki group. The first pic of my daughter captures the fierce and independent woman she’s growing into and my heart swells at the thought of her future.
