K3 Pro update. Still rocking as my main keyboard, but I’ve been using it mostly in wired mode to save the battery, and I’ve noticed that the USB-C socket on the board I have is quite loose inside the case - I’ve has a number of instances after moving the keyboard around a bit that the connection was lost until I reseated the cable. YMMV, but something to look out for.

1/ Yesterday, the final component of my #portable #writing setup arrived …

an eBay 6th Gen iPad – as I wanted one that would run the latest #iPadOS 17.

I won the auction (thanks, #eSnipe) and lucked out – it’s in truly immaculate condition. $126.00.

I had to slog through a *lot* of listings to find it.

Paired with the #Keychron #K3Pro #Bluetooth keyboard and a $2.99 #Ikea stand, I’m good to go light anytime, anywhere.

Total cost? About $215 plus tax and shipping. Luxury #keyboarding.

I was seeking a serious keyboard (no chiclets) to make a portable rig for writing, and writing *only*.

Something I could use anywhere, instead of lugging my good laptop around … but absolutely without compromising the quality of the keybed.

Uhm, for some reason my F1-F12 keys are seems not to be working with my #keychron #k3pro on MacOS, keymap seems to be configured correctly. They just get ignored.
Tried everything but can't guess what's wrong. Any suggestion?

Okay, I took a tiny jump further down the #mechanicalkeyboard rabbit hole. Promise it's my last.

The only thing I don't like about the #keychron #K3Pro keyboard is the keycaps aren't shine thru. Seems goofy that they aren't. So I bought a set of PBT double shot shine thru low profile keycaps for it. In white, cuz I'm on Macs.

The only keys I didn't replace were the function row; the replacement caps don't have Apple's key legends on them. I have a bad memory for which is which.

Interesting observation after typing about 10,000 words on a higher end mechanical keyboard with dimpled keycaps...

If you happen to go back to a chicklet keyboard briefly to type something, your fingertips feel weird, almost numb.

Anyone else ever notice this?

My #keychron #k3pro is due someday this week (ordered a week or so ago!) interested to see how my first #mechanicalkeyboard experience will be.

I have a feeling it’s going to be too loud for using as my portable … but shall see. Anyone got any experience of them?
