After waking up at the Courtyard, we headed over to Kiyomizu-dera to see the fall foliage & special viewing of the garden at Joju-in. We then had gyukatsu for lunch and headed over to Heian-jingu. We ended the day at Gion Tsujiri before walking back to the hotel via Nishiki Market.

Kiyomizu-dera and the Heian-jingu

After waking up at the Courtyard, we headed over to Kiyomizu-dera to see the fall foliage and the special viewing of the garden at Joju-in. We then had gyukatsu for lunch and headed over to Heian-jingu to take a look around the shrine and garden. We ended the day with excellent parfaits at Gion Tsujiri before walking back to the hotel via Nishiki Market.

Two weeks ago, we were crowded out at #Kiyomizudera but took great advice from a #Kyoto-ite to turn left instead towards #Jōjuin #成就院. It was sublimely peaceful and beautiful - no more than 5 visitors were present during the 45 minutes we chilled on their engawa. This #autumn season's Jōjuin opening ended on November 30th though and the next will be Spring 2023. Highly recommended!
