In 2009, Lynch crossed the US and back (20,000 miles), interviewing Americans intimately familiar to me, but invisible to most of the world. The underdogs, the down-and-out, those who don't fit in, mostly. A lot of broken dreams. Ain't that America. There are 122 films, directed by Lynch, portraits under 5:00. Vor 15 Jahren veröffentlichte David Lynch eine von ihm produzierte Doku-Reihe unter Regie seines Sohnes Austin auf seiner Website. Der schlichte Titel: Interview Project.

„Interview Project is a 20.000 mile road trip over 70 days across and back the United States. The team found the people driving along the roads, going into bars, going into different locations and there they were. The people told their story. It’s so fascinating to look and listen to people. What I hope people will get out of Interview Project is a chance to meet these people. It’s something that’s human and you can’t stay away from it.“

121 Menschen erzählten Lynchs Team ihre Geschichte. Als David Lynch jedoch irgendwann seine Seite dichtmachte, verschwand auch das Projekt – bis heute.
