#writerscoffeeclub 18th of January: Are you comfortable making your readers uncomfortable? How far will you go?

Well... I don't go out of my characters' ways to make things uncomfortable, that being said, if it is in character, it's fair game.

Okay, seriously. The one book I published that pushes the boundaries of comfort of readers is my science fiction about a human trafficking story about a little girl and her struggles to become free. I don't know a single male outside myself and the psychiatrist that helped edit the story that had the guts to read it. Women, on the other hand have read it and gave me great ratings. But I didn't write it for ratings. Nonna, the main character wouldn't let me rest until I wrote her story. I remember being driven to write her story of pain, rape, victimization, sex, death matches, love, and flight and fight to freedom.
